| Situated three quarters of a mile
along a rough track, with nearby river, scots pine and open rolling hills the Bothy has an airy and spacous feel
with whitewashed stone
walls, carpeted floor and simple furnishings. In the main room a futon,
single and two bunkbeds create a cosy sitting area around the woodburning
stove with space for activities on a rainy day, eating area, and pleasantly
tiled work surfaces for food preparation. There is an electric cooker and
fridge, upright dryer and pulley for drying clothes. An adjoining smaller
family room has a double and single bed
with electric heater. There is an excellent hot shower. Apart from the shower,
water is heated by a large kettle! |

| The Bothy is secluded enough to
offer complete peace and quiet and is the habitat of deer, mountain hare
and many alpine plants. Situated in an area that enjoys some of the lowest
UK figures for upland rainfall, it makes an excellent spot for birdwatching
and hillwalking as well as exploring Upper Donside; castles, gardens, galleries,
and, further afield, distilleries, Pictish and standing stones. Nearest
hotel one and a half miles away. Fishing can be arranged by permit. Other
facilities available locally include riding, mountain bike hire, cross-country
skiing, snowboarding and downhill skiing at the Lecht two and a half miles
away. The Bothy is close to the eastern walk into Ben Avon and the Cairngorm
massif as well as Balmoral and Royal Deeside. Findhorn Bay and the coast
are one and a quarter hour's drive away. OS Landranger 36/37 |
